Frequently asked questions
What am I buying?
A sealed glass object, 250 ml, holding the atmosphere of one place in Vienna at one moment. It is hand-signed on the reverse with the site's coordinates, its number in the edition and the date. It arrives with a hand-signed certificate in a linen presentation box. Edition of 50.
Is there really Viennese atmosphere inside?
Yes — and it is meant as exactly that. At each site the atmosphere is enclosed by hand: a figure of eight traced twice within the open vessel, then sealed at once with cork and capsule. It is a gesture, not a machine — a deliberate act that marks a place and a moment. The object holds that moment; it does not claim to be anything more, and it needs to be nothing less.
Where in Vienna was it captured?
The Vienna edition comes from five sites: Augarten, Burggarten, Stephansplatz, Donaukanal and Kahlenberg. Ten objects were taken at each, and every object carries the coordinates of its own site on the glass.
May I open it?
We ask that you don't. The seal, the number and the certificate belong together — opening the vessel ends the edition it records. It is made to be kept as it is.
How should I look after it?
Keep it out of direct sunlight. Otherwise it needs no care and does not change over time.
Why €350?
Each object is made and sealed by hand, hand-signed on the glass, and issued with a signed certificate in a linen box. The Vienna edition is limited to 50, and nothing is reproduced. You are buying one documented moment of one place, not a mass-produced souvenir.
What if it breaks in shipping?
It ships from Vienna, packed for transit. If an object breaks on the way, we replace it or refund you in full.
Who is behind ELYZAIR?
ELYZAIR is the first public work of Galip Eraslan, a conceptual artist based in Vienna. It began with a simple question: can you own something of a city? Each object holds the atmosphere of one place at one moment — sealed, numbered and signed by hand — yet shows almost nothing. What it means is left, deliberately, to the person who holds it. Every edition is conceived, captured, sealed and signed by Eraslan himself; every capture is documented on video.
